Under the File tab, click on Options. Click on Advanced Options. Under Display Document Content, check the box for Show Text Boundaries. Page margins will appear as dashed lines. Each page in Word has an automatic one-inch margin. You can choose predefined margin settings or customize the margins. To modify, select Layout > Margins > Custom Margins.
Select Layout > Margins. Choose the desired margin measurements or select Custom Margins. Use the arrows to input values. Select OK. To set as default, choose Set As Default.
If the top and bottom margins are cut off, disable margin masking. Double-click at the top or bottom of a page when the pointer changes to a two-pointed arrow. To mask again, repeat the action.
To increase your margin rate, you can lower the cost of goods sold, raise selling prices, streamline operations, or optimize production. Calculate the margin rate: (variable cost margin / revenue) x 100. Regularly monitor your margin to compare with competitors and track your progress. The margin rate, one of many indices, indicates the financial health of the business. Also consider revenue and markup rate. The formula is: (gross margin / cost of goods sold) x 100.
